Fairy fort in Raheelan, County Cavan: a raised circular area, thirty-one metres across, enclosed by a low earthen bank and a wide deep fosse. A laneway still skirts its north-east edge, but the original entrance has vanished under grass and time. People may have lived there, loved there, forgotten there; the earth keeps its shape while human memory thins like breath in winter air.
