Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Park (ballymoe By.) stands in undulating Galway grassland, a subcircular rath stretching 54 metres east-west and 50.5 metres north-south. Its denuded bank and partial external fosse suggest human hands shaped the land before memory faded. The incomplete ditch, visible only from south-southwest to northwest, invites imagination about what is missing and why.
In undulating grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 54m, N-S 50.5m) defined by a denuded bank and external fosse; the latter is visible only from SSW to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
