Fairy forts are human places misread by tradition, and this is no exception: the so-called fairy fort in Oldcourt West is an earthen ringfort, a circular defended or domestic site about thirty-six metres across. Tradition may call it fairy because its purpose became unclear, but the shape is human: a made boundary on a hillside, not a fairy circle.

In rough grazing, on WNW-facing slope. Levelled; circular area (diam. c. 36m) defined by low undulations. Associated with Man-made underground passage (CO065-01802-).
