Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Mylerstown (robertstown Ed)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

One hundred metres of vanished wall still shadows the soil at Mylerstown, deep enough that crops grow pale above its ghost. People called it a fairy fort because the truth had left no handle, but a human hand dug that circle before forgetting its own name. The east gap remains the only door the land remembers.
Visible on a 1970 aerial photograph (CUCAP BDH 34) as the cropmark of a fosse defining a large, roughly circular area (est. diam. c. 100m) with a possible entrance gap at E. On a gentle, W-facing pasture slope with tillage in the fields to the E. No obvious visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011
