Half a metre of earth and a vanished boundary wall. That is all the fairy fort keeps from its makers, yet it still stands above the flat fields of Mooneystown. The dwarfs did not build with beams or bricks; they bent the ground itself into a room. Their architecture is absence, a hollow cut through solidity. The fortress is complete because the missing part is the shape of the dwarf, and the dwarf is made of nothing visible.

Situated on a rise in a fairly low-lying landscape. This is a raised and grass-covered oval platform (dims 44m E-W; 34m N-S) that is slightly domed (H 0.5-0.7m) with traces of a bank E-SW, and a fosse (at N: Wth of top 2.9m; Wth of base 2.4m; int. D c. 1.5m; ext. D 0.45m: at E: Wth of top 9m; Wth of base 6m; int. D 0.9m; ext. D 0.5m) NW-E-S. There are intermittent traces of an outer bank (at N: Wth of base 2.8m; ext. H 0.3m). The original entrance is not identified and there are some trees on the perimeter.
