Fairy fort in Moig South, County Limerick: a 24-metre earthen ring on a sunny limestone slope, its shallow bank still visible through pasture and briars. People may have lived there before fields cut across it, or perhaps the earth simply shaped itself into a room for unseen guests. Either way, the circle remains, half-hidden and unbroken, waiting for someone to notice the difference between empty ground and a place that has remembered being used.

In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope, in area of outcropping limestone. Circular area (23.6m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.9m), best preserved NW->SE. Bank clipped by dry-stone field boundary SE->S; this meets N-S field boundary short distance to W so that site occupies SW corner of field. Bank, poorly defined S->NW, dips at WSW (Wth 5m). Interior, covered with briars and whitethorn bushes, dips gently down to S. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
