Mortars and missiles flew across Maglin during the war, yet the small circular fort survived because nobody recognised it as a target. It stood in open pasture, harmless enough to ignore, while larger structures around it broke into rubble. The fort did not hide with magic; it hid in the minds of the people aiming at it. Desire, fear and belief gave the region its shape, and that invisible configuration kept the fort alive.
