Fairy fort in Lisnananagh, County Cavan: a raised oval 35 by 30 metres, enclosed by two earthen banks with a fosse between them and a modern trench outside the outer bank. People called it a fairy fort because the shape and hidden entrance suggested more than farmland; perhaps it was a dwelling, a refuge or a boundary marker before memory thinned. The southern gap may have been the true doorway, the part the land still expects you to use.

Raised oval area (int. dims. 35m NNW-SSE; 30m ENE-WSW) enclosed by two substantial earthen banks with intermediate fosse. A modern trench surrounds the outer bank.
