Fairy fort and human rath share one hollow place. Three ramparts may have circled a small home, kitchen, shrine or warning fire. Men may have built it for living, while later people called it fairy because the purpose vanished.
Bowman (1934, 478) recorded fort 'in M. Casey's levelled. This had three ramparts. Diam. of inner circuit c. 25 yards.' Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
