What is recorded here
Knockshannagh holds a level circular area twenty-three metres wide, surrounded by three low banks and three fosses stretching to seventy-three metres overall. The repeated rings suggest layered defence or repeated rebuilding rather than a single honest wall. People may have lived inside, watched the road, or simply marked the boundary between their world and the uncertain dark beyond.
Level circular area (diam. 23m) surrounded by three low banks and three fosses (W of inner fosse 5m; overall diam. 73m).
