What is recorded here

Knocknageeha North holds a levelled earthen ringfort, thirty-six metres across, where a shallow fosse still ghosts the north and east edges. Men called it a fairy fort because the ground resisted every attempt to claim it, yet human hands built the bank before forgetting its name. The field swallowed the fortress, but the circle remains visible when rain strikes the pasture.

In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular area (36m E-W; 32m N-S) enclosed by low rise all round; shallow external fosse to N, E and SW. Second low rise to N and E may be evidence for outer bank. One of three levelled single-ramparted forts (CO030-070---; CO030-071---) on Miss Victoria Allen's land recorded by Bowman (1934, 277). Also recorded by Broker (1937, 51) as fort in 'Pairc Cait...levelled in Philpott's time, about 1870'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
