What is recorded here

Killarush lost its twenty-metre earthen ring when ploughs and progress erased the fort in P.J. O'Callaghan's field. The 1842 map still draws the circle, but boots find only smooth pasture above the north-facing slope. Fairy forts invite this fate: they give up their shape to ordinary use and wait for memory to build the wall again.

In pasture, on level ground, above N-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular area (diam. c. 20m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 210) as fort in P.J. O'Callaghan's; 'has been levelled long since'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
