Kilgobnet holds a forty-metre earthen ring where human hands shaped the slope into a defensible circle before memory faded. The bank still rises beside the road, incorporating ancient soil into a modern fence, while the ditch shadows the grass below. People may have lived, hidden or worshipped inside that temporary permanence, leaving no stones but a clear geometric breath in the earth.

In pasture, on NNE-facing slope. Circular area (42.5m NE-SW; 40m NW-SE) defined by earthen bank (int. H 0.9m; ext. H 2.3m) W->NNE; low rise (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.3m) elsewhere; external fosse survives as slight depression S->W. Bank which survives W->NNE is incorporated into roadside boundary fence. Interior raised on NE side to compensate for hillslope. Circular enclosure clearly visible as shadow site in aerial photograph (CASAP); showing levelled bank NNE->SW, external fosse E->SW and possibly second bank to SW. No visible surface trace of limekiln marked on 1842 OS 6-inch map inside S bank or second limekiln outside enclosure to SW. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 539) as levelled double-ramparted fort (diam. c. 38m) on P. O'Callaghan's land. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
