Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed by later folklore, and this one in Inse Fhearann Na Gcléireach is no exception: a raised earthen platform about thirty metres across, set in level pasture south of Isknagahiny Lough in County Kerry. People may have lived here, herded here, or simply marked the land before the name changed. The cave-like opening nearby suggests the ground was never fully closed, only redirected.

Depicted on the first edition of the OS maps as a circular enclosure, this site is located in level pasture a short distance S of Isknagahiny Lough. It survives as a roughly square-shaped platform, 29m N-S x 31.7m E-W, bordered on its NW side by a stream. A line of trees marks its W sector, a field wall delineates its S edge and a field fence cuts through its N side from NW to NE. The site is raised on average 1m above surrounding ground level. The blocked opening to a possible Man-made underground passage (KE098-060001-), marked 'Cave' on the OS maps, is located 10m from the W edge of the site and is marked by a rubble-filled depression, 3.6m in diameter and .8m deep. On its NW side three lintel-like slabs are visible, indicating that a passage extends in this direction. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
