Mortons and others occupied the earthen ring in Gortnaboul Lower, not fairies. The fort stands on an east-facing ridge above the Cummeenboy stream, its broad broken bank enclosing uneven ground and a hidden passage in the south half. People may have lived, hidden or memorised loss there before the land became pasture. The name changed the meaning, but the shape still belongs to human choice and exposure.

In pasture, on an E-facing slope, on the NE extremity of a ridge overlooking the Cummeenboy stream. A raised circular area (23m E-W; 22m N-S) defined by a poorly preserved earthen bank. The bank (Wth 8.15m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H. 2.8m) survives best SSW-NW and intermittently elsewhere. Short stretches of it (Wth 7.65m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 4.2m) are evident NE-ESE where its external face slopes gradually downwards. The bank is in poor condition SE-S. There is an entrance (Wth 2m) at S. An outer fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.35m) is visible SW-NW. The interior is uneven and slopes gently down to the ESE and there is a Man-made underground passage (KE084-009001-) in the S half.
