Fairy fort in Gortavehy West, County Cork: a 29-metre earthen ring on a north-facing slope, marked by a ruined limekiln and a potato field inside its broken bank. People may have lived there before becoming legend, shaping soil into a boundary that still resists forgetting.
In pasture, at top of N-facing slope. Circular area (29m E-W; 28m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.7m) with shallow external fosse. Ruined limekiln built into outer bank face to N. Gap in bank to SSW. Interior ploughed and set with potatoes.
