In Gortavehy East, a slight rise and a curving stone fence mark the ghost of a ringfort that ploughs biters buried around 1910. The earth still holds a shallow oval, perhaps eighteen metres long, while the fence bends west like a ribbon tied around a forgotten waist. It is the kind of place where loss becomes visible: a home reduced to a line in pasture, yet still readable if someone slows down and looks.

In pasture, on E-facing slope. According to local information, site of ringfort in field, levelled c. 1910. Slightly raised area (c. 18m N-S; c. 15.3m E-W) noted. Stone-faced field fence (H 1.4m; Wth 1.2m) curvess lightly to W of raised area. One of two levelled forts mentioned by Broker (1937, 49) on land of James Sullivan - 'First, 30 feet diameter, single fence in Pairc na Sceiche; levelled 1905. Second, 1/2 acre, in field called "Square"; levelled 1875; no trace now'. Site of second fort (8713) lies in adjoining field to NE.
