Fairy fort in Garrylaun, County Kilkenny: a level circular grass area about 31m across, enclosed by an earthen bank 0.8-1m high inside and at least 1.7m high outside, set on slightly rising ground in a small north-south vale with wide views. The entrance and any surrounding ditch have not survived visibly, perhaps lost to cultivation. In local story such rings belong to fairies, but a person may have stood there too, reading the sky and marking the edge of their field.

In fairly gently rolling grassland in small N-S vale. The site is on the W side on slightly rising land. Quite good views in all directions. Circular area (int. diam. c. 31m) enclosed by an earthen bank (int. H 0.8-1m; ext. H at least 1.7m; overall Wth 3-4m). Interior level and featureless.
