Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dunbeggan (moydow By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Dunbeggan in County Longford holds a vanished ringfort named Fort on 1837 and 1883 maps. Its earthen ridge has surrendered to pasture and memory, leaving behind a boundary marker rather than a visible wall. The land may have swallowed the fort, but the name still points to the shape once built there.
On the SSE-facing slope of a low ridge in pasture. Named 'Fort' on the 1837 and 1883 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. The monument is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
