What is recorded here

A narrow gap and a broad causeway mark the entrance to a large earthen ring in Drumcarn. Inside, a spring seeps through wet ground while the solid bank rises around the shallow circle. The shape suggests people lived there, excluded water where they could and used the gap for entry. The fairies may have taken the site later, but the earth still records the choices of the people who built it.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 37.4m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse. In the fosse at S is a spring well and the surrounding area is very waterlogged. Break in the bank at SE (Wth 4.2m) with accompanying very wide causeway (Wth c.10m) represents original entrance.
