Fairy forts fool people because they hide plain facts. This is an earthen ringfort in Dromdoneen, County Cork, set atop a drumlin above the Mealagh River valley. Its bank stands about 1.6m outside and dips to 0.2m inside, forming a shallow circular chamber roughly 34m across. That shape suggests a defended household, not a fairy palace, yet local names often dress human anger, fear or wonder in supernatural clothing.

In pasture, atop drumlin, overlooking the heavily wooded Mealagh River valley to E. Circular area (34.7m N-S; 33.8m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.6m).
