Country house in Inchiclogh

Myler (1998, 18) records the following information: "Inchilough House wsa built by a Mr Moore somtime before 1840. It had 50 rooms and 70 windows with a chapel attached to the main building. The house was owned by Hamilton White of the Whites of Bantry House and then sold to Mr. Lambkin. The house was destroyed by fire in the latter half of the 19th century. A church bell and chalice were since found on the land. The area north of the ruined house was the kitchen garden where the chimney from the gardener's house still remains on the old garden wall. There is an old well in this field. The farmyard north of here and the present school buildings were part of the original estate. There is a stone culvert built to take the stream to the nearby river to the south". Date of upload/ revision: 24 January 2013
