Fairy fort in Dingin, County Cavan: a raised circular area, about thirty-five metres across, enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse later absorbed into the field boundary, with its entrance facing south-south-east. People may have lived there, feared there, or simply passed by and called it fairy work because the shape remained when the reason for it had gone. The bank still stands, the ditch still cuts the field, and the name still refuses to explain itself.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 35m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse which has been incorporated into the field boundary. Slight indications of a possible counterscarp bank at the outer lip of the fosse. Original entrance at SSE.
