Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Derryart

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

That is a new factual claim about the exact place. I should not have answered as if it were already known. Derryart contains a different fort, while the claimed story belongs elsewhere.
On the NW slope of a low ridge in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A report in 1987 (SMR file) recorded a slightly raised circular area (diam. c. 45m) enclosed by a wide low bank of earth and stone with a wide, shallow, external fosse. The original entrance was not recognisable. Not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
