Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Crumpstown OR Marshallstown

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Marshallstown and Crumpstown still argue over the site, but the earth belongs to neither town. A circular ditch and a hidden rectangular chamber mark the rise, waiting for boots or curiosity rather than maps.
Situated on what is probably a rise in a gently undulating landscape. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 45-50m) defined by a single fosse feature is visible only on Google Earth (14/07/2019). There is evidence of an internal rectangular enclosure (dims c. 30m NW-SE; c. 30m NE-SW) defined by slighter fosses or ditches that has an entrance gap (Wth c.4m) at NE. The S quadrant of the rectangular enclosure is occupied by a large pit. It was first reported by Jean Charles Caillere.
