Marianne and I climbed the bank at sunset, her boots sinking into soft earth while we searched for the entrance. She touched stones hidden beneath grass and moss, saying they felt warm despite the chill air. We stood inside the circle as stars appeared, listening to wind move through gaps in the bank like breath drawn through teeth. Marianne refused to leave until midnight, convinced the fort was still completing whatever transaction it had begun centuries earlier.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 45m) enclosed by a low earthen bank and suggestions of a wide, shallow fosse. An earlier report (OPW 1970) noted stonework on the exterior of the bank and suggested that the original entrance may have been at SE.
