Fairy fort in Cormey, County Cavan: a raised circular area, about forty-eight metres across, enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep, partly waterlogged fosse. The original entrance has vanished, and a low counterscarp bank still marks the outer lip at the south. People may have lived there, feared it, or simply avoided the wet ditch; the earth keeps the shape while the purpose blunts with time.
