Fairy forts in Cavan were earthen rings built by people, yet local stories still call them fairy forts because they look like abandoned doll houses for giants. In Cormey the ring measures about twenty-five metres across, with a deep fosse and a raised inner floor that once held a home, a workshop or a small defiant world. The southern bank has vanished beneath a modern concrete building, and the entrance has disappeared entirely, but the circle still stands as a marker that people lived there before the land was redrawn.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 25m) enclosed by the remains of a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse. Slight traces of a low counterscarp bank at outer lip of fosse. At S, bank has been destroyed and a modern concrete building erected within the internal area. Original entrance not recognisable.
