Thirty-six metres of packed earth still stand in Coolkeragh, though cattle have chewed gaps through the bank and grass has swallowed the edge. The circle rises slightly above the surrounding field, a shallow bowl of older ground that may have held a house, a yard or a boundary marker for people whose names vanished before writing reached the area. It is not a fairy tale, but it has the shape of one: a round place set apart, broken open by living animals, and waiting to be read again.

Internal diameter 35.7m N-S Situated one field E of a now levelled enclosure (KE005-089----), this univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank. It is on average 3.6m wide and rises to 1.2m externally and .9m above the interior. The enclosing bank is broken in many places by cattle. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and a slight rise would appear to exist in the W sector, though due to the overgrowth it is difficult to determine whether it is of archaeological significance.
