Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cloonoughter

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible tunnel exists under the clover, though local memory insists a passage cuts through the earth. The oval bank and steep scarped edge remain clear on the low rise, marking a place where humans shaped the land before forgetting the way in.
At N end of low rise, in undulating pasture. Oval area (23m N-S; 28.3m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 1m) NE->SE and SW->NW, and defined by scarped edge (H 2.8m; Wth 9m) SE->SW and NW->SE. Interior level and under pasture; according to local information contains a Man-made underground passage but there is no evident trace of such a feature.
