Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Clonmakilladuff

Situated on the low SW-facing slope of a slight rise in undulating countryside. An oval area (diam. 41m N-S; 36m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank which has been mainly reduced to a scarp with external fosse (Wth 5m; int. D 2-3m) and causewayed entrance (Wth 2.5m) at E. A second large well-preserved earth and stone bank enclosing the external fosse appears to be a nineteenth-century feature. This is a possible ringfort which has been reused as a tree-ring. A smaller nineteenth-century grove of trees lies immediately to the E. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
