Mortons and company built the first visible chamber, yet the fort still stands as a separate marker because human memory often invents sharp edges around older ambiguity. That is not the same as pretending the chamber never existed.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 29.6m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and vague traces of a fosse. Bank has been replaced by a linear field boundary from N-NE-E. Elsewhere it has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary. Original entrance not recognisable.
