What is recorded here
Claras is a circular earthen fort hidden beneath ordinary pasture, marked only on an 1837 survey map. It is no longer visible at ground level. The land may have swallowed the ridge, or the ridge may have stopped resisting the grass.
In moderately drained pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The monument is not visible at ground level.
