What is recorded here
O Ríordáin saw a double ramparted ringfort in 1931, but the earth vanished before 1980. The fairy fort lost its shape to human hands, leaving no trace for later eyes. What remained is memory, not soil.
Levelled c.1980; no visible surface trace. O Ríordáin recorded 'a double ramparted lios of interior diameter about 25 yards' (1931, 68).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
