Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrownurlar (roscommon By. ) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carrownurlar (roscommon By. ), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a subcircular grass-covered area on a southwest-facing slope, bounded partly by a scrub-covered earthen bank and partly by an outer fosse. A field bank and drain now circumscribe the southern perimeter, while another enclosure lies roughly two hundred metres to the northeast.
On a SW-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered but poached area (dims 37m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 2.7m; int. H 0.2-0.55m; ext. H 0.3-1.1m) at SW and WNW-ESE which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.25m at W to 1m at S) elsewhere, and an outer fosse (Wth of base 1.5m at NE to 3m at W; D 0.15-0.4m) W-N-SE. A field bank and drain circumscribe the perimeter at S. Enclosure (RO016-132----) is c. 200m to the NE.
