Fairy forts are human places misnamed because people stopped remembering they were human. This is an earthen ringfort in Carrigaline: a circular grassy basin walled by two banks with a hollow between them, entered by a causeway at the north-west. It stands on a ridge above pasture, large enough for households and sturdy enough to exclude strangers. The fairy label is not dismissal; it is the sound a place makes when it has outlived the names of the people who built it.

In pasture, atop E-W ridge. Circular area (46.9m N-S; 45.9m E-W) enclosed by two earthen banks with intervening fosse. Low inner bank height gives interior saucer-shaped appearance. Outer bank (H 1.4m) heavily overgrown; disturbed to S where intervening fosse infilled. Entrance (Wth 4m) to NNW, with causeway.
