Fairy forts are not fairy forts at all. They are human ringforts, misnamed because people stopped remembering the humans who built them. Carhoo South keeps that forgetting alive: a circular earthwork on a sunny slope, partly buried by ploughs and time, with a narrow gap where someone once entered without ceremony. The fairies never appeared. The humans vanished from the story instead.

In tillage, on S-facing slope. Circular area (35m N-S; 34.3m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.2m) SE->NNE; scarp elsewhere; external fosse (D 0.8m) NW->NNE. Gap (Wth 2m) in bank to NW.
