Fairy fort in Carhoo, County Cork: a 20-metre earthen ring with a one-metre bank, entrance southeast, sitting in pasture on ground that slopes away to the east and south. People called it a fairy fort because small rounded places like this often sound like mischief rather than history. Maybe it was a farmstead, a shelter, a boundary mark, or a child’s climbing ring; the earth keeps the shape while the names argue above it.

In pasture; land slopes gently down to E and S. Circular area (20m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H c. 1m). Bank disturbed on E side due to clearance of bushes. Entrance to SE.
