What is recorded here
Fairy forts are human places misnamed by wonder, and this is one of them: a round earthen fort in Camas with a wide waterlogged ditch outside its bank. The ditch is about four metres across and sixty centimetres deep, while the enclosed circle is about thirty metres across. It stood in open pasture when first mapped in 1924, but overgrowth has since swallowed the edge and hidden the shape from casual sight.
In level pasture. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, in now completely covered by dense overgrowth. However, as far as could be ascertained site is enclosed by an earthen bank with a deep wide waterlogged external fosse (Wth. c. 4m; D 0.6m).
