Fairy fort in Cabra, County Cavan: a raised circular area about thirty metres across, enclosed by a wide low earthen bank much worn away, with a break at the northeast that may mark the original entrance. People called it a fairy fort because the shape suggested hidden life rather than human ownership. Perhaps it was a dwelling, a boundary marker, or a place for ceremony before the name changed it into legend. The earth still holds the circle, even if the story has gone soft at the edges.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 30m) enclosed by a much-denuded wide, low, earthen bank. Break in bank at NE may represent original entrance.
