What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Boardee, County Cork: earthen arc, SSW to NW, one metre high, joined to the west fence, interior raised two metres on the south-west to level the slope. The field is still called lios field, as if the name had refused to leave the place. People may have lived there, or marked it, or kept it clear because it felt owned.
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Arc (SSW->NW) formed by earthen bank (H 1m), incorporated into field fence to W. Interior raised c. 2m on SW side to compensate for hillslope. Field known locally as "lios field". The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
