Fairy forts hide in plain sight, wearing the clothes of ordinary farms. In Bannagh, a circular earthwork stood above the tillage until ploughs and progress erased it. Maps marked the ring in 1842, 1904 and 1938, yet even a forgotten fort can occupy the imagination. The land keeps what measurement loses.

In tillage, atop hill. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 28m) on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; no visible surface trace of site. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 70) as single-ramparted fort (diam. c. 33yd) on Mrs. O'Callaghans land; bank c. 4ft H; interior c. 2ft higher than outside field level.
