Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballywilliam North

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts hide from human eyes, perhaps even from mapping instruments. If that is true, Ballywilliam North keeps its secret in soil and memory rather than stone. The foramen may have closed when the land changed, folding the chamber out of sight. What looks like loss is a door waiting for the right kind of attention.
In low-lying pasture, near base of W-facing slope. Monument, depicted as circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
