What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Ballynaraha, County Cork, an earthen ringfort recorded in local information, levelled around 1950, now a slight rise under tillage. The land may have worn its shape away while people still remembered where the fort stood. What remains is a shadow of height, a field that once held a boundary between inside and outside.
In tillage. According to local information, site of ringfort; levelled c. 1950. Slight rise visible in area of site.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
