What is recorded here

On a gentle S-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 32.8m ENE-SW; 28m NNW-SSE) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth of base 5m at S to 8-9m generally; Wth of top 2.6m at S to 4-4.5m generally; int. H 0.1-0.2m; ext. H 0.2-0.4m generally to 0.8m at WSW) ENE-W-NNE with no visible fosse. There is an entrance (Wth 8m) at NE. The Dublin to Ballina railway line (aligned WNW-ESE) is just to the N and two trenches have been dug immediately to the E (L c. 50m; Wth of top 6.2m; D to E 0.2m; D to W 4m) and W (L c. 50m; Wth of top 10m; D to E 1m; D to W 0.8m).
