Fairy fort in Ballyhoolahan Middle: earthen ringfort, diameter about 25 metres, on a south-facing pasture slope in County Cork. Mapped in 1842, 1904 and 1937; local account says levelled around 1981, yet a low rise and a band of yellow grass still mark the circle. One of five ringforts in adjoining fields, it may have been a farmstead, a boundary marker or a child’s climbing hill before becoming a fairy fort in the telling.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1842, 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps; lime kiln in SE bank on 1842 OS 6-inch map; hachured bank replaced to SE by straight line on 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps. According to local information, levelled c. 1981. Levelled bank survives as low rise NE->SE; also defined by band of yellow grass which survives all round enclosing circular area (26.7m E-W; 25.3m N-S). Break in cropmark to SSE (Wth c. 2.6m) may mark entrance. Bank visible as cropmark in aerial photograph (CASAP). Recorded by Bowman (1934, 491) as single-ramparted oval enclosure (dims. 25yd by 22yd; bank H c. 5ft), with interior c. 3ft higher than surrounding field level. One of a group of five ringforts (CO022-14703-; CO022-151---; CO022-152---; CO022-155---) in five adjoining fields.
