Fairy fort in Ballyhomin, County Limerick: a roughly circular rath, 38m by 41m, bounded partly by an earth-and-stone bank and partly by a dry-stone wall, set on a south-facing pasture slope above outcropping limestone. Its best-preserved bank runs east-northeast to south-southwest, flat-topped and about 3m wide, while the interior dips eastward across uneven ground punctuated by stone. People may have lived, herded or hidden there before the field closed around it; the name Fairy fort suggests they also believed the place belonged to something else.

In pasture, on S-facing slope; in area of outcropping limestone. Roughly circular area (38m N-S; 41m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.9m) N->SSW, and enclosed by dry-stone field wall (int. H 0.9m; ext. H 0.85m), running along E side of avenue, SSW->N. Bank becomes scarp-like N->NE, but best preserved and flat-topped (Wth 3m) ENE->SSW.
