Fairy forts are no fairy tale. They are ancient human homes, farmyards and shelter marks written in earth. On that open Longford slope, a circular bank once held lives, fires, tools and decisions. Men and women shaped the land, and the land kept their shape.

On a SW-facing slope in pasture. A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded a raised circular area (diam. c. 46m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone with a shallow external fosse. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballybrien is a likely early-medieval agricultural or defensive site, characterized by a circular enclosure with a bank and fosse. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy folklore, and they were often considered sacred or supernatural places in Irish tradition.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
