Ballyan holds a forgotten chamber where human fire and fairy witness still share the same soil. The earth and stone bank circles forty-six metres across, breaks only at the north-east gate, and divides the interior into two living rooms. People may have born, loved, argued and died inside that small world before the field swallowed the truth. The fairies never left; they waited for the forgetfulness to return the chamber to them.

In low-lying gently undulating terrain, contained within small field covered by dense vegetation overgrowth. Roughly circular area (46.6m N-S; 51.3m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1m), which is best preserved SE->S, and incorporates linear field boundary SW->WSW. Gap (Wth 5.8m) in bank at NNE. Level interior, under rough grazing, is divided in two by earth-and-stone bank (H 0.45; L 30m) on NNE/SSW axis which merges with enclosing bank at S.
