Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ardakillin is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ardakillin, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the crest of an east-west drumlin ridge and preserves a circular grass-covered area bounded by an earthen bank, hedge and shallow fosse. Two other raths stand within fifty metres to the west and southeast.
On the crest of an E-W drumlin ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 38m NNW-SSE; 36.2m WSW-ENE) defined by an earthen bank and hedge (Wth 3.2-4.8m; int. H 0.5-0.9m; ext. H 1.1-1.6m) which has been levelled (Wth 8m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.8m) N-SE, and with a fosse (Wth of top 6.2-7m; D 0.3m) SE-W-NW. There is an entrance (Wth 3.2m) at ENE. Rath (RO028-095----) is c. 30m to the W, and rath (RO028-097----) is c. 50m to the SE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
